Safety Tips
FOR CANDLES 🖤
Ensure that the first time you light your candle, the melt pool reaches the edge of the vessel before extinguishing. Wax has memory and not doing so can cause tunnelling, which will make the life of your candle far shorter.
Ensure wicks are upright and trimmed to 5mm before each use, this will increase the life of your candle, as the longer the wick, the bigger the flame, the faster it burns.
Always burn your candles within sight, do not leave unattended and keep away from things that can catch fire like curtains etc.
Keep away from children and pets, and clumsy adults.
Do not use lids to extinguish your candle, you'll get black scorch marks on the inside of it.
Prevent soot from forming on the glass by keeping your wicks properly trimmed and the candle free of any debris from previous wick trimmings.
Never allow the candle flame to come in contact with the side of the glass, this shouldn't happen as the wicks are placed correctly but it doesn't hurt to keep an eye on it.
Never use water to extinguish a candle.
Avoid burning in drafty areas, near open windows or air ducts/fans, and do not move your candle around while it's burning.
Stop burning when 10mm of un-melted wax remains in the bottom of the glass. Burning past this point can damage the surface you've placed your candle on due to the heat.
Never burn a candle for more than four hours, you risk overheating the glass.
Brief safety instructions can be located on the stickers at the bottom of your candle jar, plus a card with some of the main safety tips is also provided with every order.
By ordering from Whisper In Wax, you acknowledge that you will follow these instructions and will not hold Whisper In Wax accountable for any misuse or negligence on your part. Please be safe, candles are an open flame and a fire hazard, if you are forgetful, set a timer or maybe opt for using wax melts in an electric burner instead! Make good choices and be responsible.
Please also note due to soy wax being a natural form of wax and fluctuating room temps, 'frosting' can occur on top of your candle which looks like white spots and is purely aesthetic - it will not impact the burn/smell of your candle.
FOR WAX MELTS 🖤
How to use: Place one or two cubes into a wax melter and light an unscented tealight underneath (or use an electric wax warmer, following the safety instructions as per the companies regulations), as the wax warms up and melts, the fragrance will be released into the air.
To prevent fires or injury, make sure you remove the wax from the packaging before use.
Use only in tea-light warmers or UL listed electric warmers approved for wax melts (UL is the Underwriters Laboratory, which is a global safety certification organization that tests products and sets safety standards).
Read and follow all instructions provided with your own individual warmer before use.
Do not leave your melter unattended while in use.
Keep out of reach children and pets, and again, clumsy adults.
Do not add water or try to melt on the stove top/oven.
Use only in well ventilated areas away from flammable materials.
Discontinue use if the dish contains less than 5mm of wax, or if it no longer smells, discard the wax.
When in use, you may be able to see vapour/steam coming off the top, this isn't smoke, it is the fragrance being heated and released into the air, and is perfectly normal. If you do notice smoke however, discontinue use, this can indicate your melter isn't suited for wax melts or is too hot from overuse.
Safety instructions can be located inside the packaging of your wax melts, plus a card with safety tips is also provided with every order.
Again, by ordering from Whisper In Wax, you acknowledge that you will follow these instructions and will not hold Whisper In Wax accountable for any misuse or negligence on your part. Be safe, even little tea-light candles are an open flame and a fire hazard, if you are forgetful, set a timer or maybe stick to electric burners only! Please be responsible.
